Ru Kuwahata (Japan) and Max Porter (USA) are Oscar-nominated animation directors, writers, and illustrators based in Providence, USA. Their collaborations are known for exploring human relationships through distinctive mixed-media storytelling rooted in personal experience. Drawing from their own lives, they translate moments such as marriage, relocation, and parenthood into intimate narratives, often shaped during long walks together.
\nTheir films have screened at more than 1,000 festivals worldwide, including Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand, and Annecy, and have received over 200 international awards. Their 2017 short film, Negative Space, was nominated for the 90th Academy Awards and won 134 international prizes. Their work has been featured in publications including Variety, Colossal, IndieWire, Shots, and Le Monde.<\/p>\n
