Perfect Houseguest

Perfect Houseguest from Tiny Inventions on Vimeo.

We finished a new film! Hooooooraaaaaay!
Every film is challenging in different ways. For “Perfect Houseguest”, we set out to make a super short film in super short period, like 2-3 months. Well, sometimes I feel like I never learn since making a film takes much longer than what you plan.
With teaching, commissioned job and many other things, the project constantly got pushed back. But we’re happy to finally finish all the details and release it online.
Thanks to everybody who worked on the film!!!!

KAdE Animation Show in Amersfoort

We’re part of a group exhibition in Amersfoort, Netherlands called MOVE On…! 100 Years of Animation Art.

A few days ago, they sent me some pictures of the exhibition since I cannot attend. I love that our puppets are in drinking glasses.

Lunch Time Talk @MICA MFA Illustration

Over the weekend was an intensive animation workshop with the MFA Illustration students at Maryland Institute College of Art.
Monday was a full day of crit. (Although most students were half sleeping due to staying up all night animating. Sorry.)
In middle of that was a lunch time lecture in the Lazarus auditorium.

One of the talented students, Shreyas Krishnan made a lovely drawing of me. HOW NICE! I always draw people but I don’t get many people drawing me, so that made me extremely happy.

MFA Illustration was tweeting during the lecture and I only read them at 7pm, after I went home and did some work. Made me think…maybe it’s about time for me to get a smart phone so I can interact in “real time”.

MOVE ON…! 100 Years of Animation Art

We’re part of a group exhibition in Amersfoort, Netherlands called MOVE On…! 100 Years of Animation Art.

This weekend is the opening, so if you’re in the Netherlands area, stop by and enjoy the exhibition.

Our film, “Between Times” along with some puppets, miniature baked goods, storyboards and props will be exhibited with other films made at the Netherlands Institute for Animation Film (The residency program we were part of from 2011~2012)
This will be part of The Making of…

THE MAKING OF…
A display of sketches, storyboards and other production materials in the education area will help visitors understand the process of creation from initial concept to final product. All the materials relate to the latest films developed or produced wholly or partly in the studios of the former Netherlands Institute for Animation Film.

“Between Times” returning to the Netherlands

I am in middle of packing for an animation exhibition in Amersfoort, Netherlands.
Puppets, pastries, cuckoo clocks and some small props from “Between Times” are tucked in bubble wraps for a journey to the Netherlands. Won’t see them for awhile and quite jealous they get to go back to the Netherlands for 3 months.

The exhibition starts Jan 31~ May 3.
Here’s the link to the exhibition.

BEST ANIMATED SHORTS!

We received this awesome (and heavy) trophy from Austin Film Festival over the weekend. We won BEST ANIMATED SHORTS…meaning we’re qualify to submit our film to the Academy Awards.

At the Award Luncheon, Matthew Weiner (creator of AMC show,”Madmen”) won “OUTSTANDING TELEVISION WRITER” award so I got to be in the same room with him.
I wish I had a telescope camera…but I sure got tons of inspiration and motivation from his speech!
